How to get Factions key? - Guild Wars Forums

Since PlayNC.com is no longer selling Factions (this was confirmed), I ended up buying Factions at the local store for the same price. It comes with the factions key, however PlayNC will not allow it to be added to my existing account ... It says I have to make a new account (which makes no sense at all).

How can I get the key added to my existing account?

Where did you get the idea that plaync.com no longer sell faction? It is still in the catalog though. (Both in game store and Plaync.com)

You better check your existing account (Cd-key management) to check if factions is included. If factions key is included there, you can't add it in. Since you try purchasing faction using the online store (From the bug forum)

You better double check your Cd-key management and your bank account whether they subtract any money out. If they do, you will need to contact plaync.com for a refund and canceling the faction cd key.

If nothing is wrong, contact plaync or anet. I suppose there is not much we could do. Send them a support ticket will be the best solution now. Good luck.

It was confirmed by a few people on this forum and locally that, due to a bug in the PlayNC store, Factions is no longer available. Did the key thing. Ended up having to install directly from disk, and once installed it takes you to the management (in game), and from there you can add in the CD-key to your account.

Was PM'd with instructions from someone who had to go through this

No instructions in the manual . ah well

all you need to do with a key is log in, on the character select screen, click Edit Account, then click manage keys, then enter the new key and job done

Does he has a problem inserting the cd key or anet doesn't allow him to insert the cd key to his existing account?

You don't have to install from the cd like lonesamurai said. The client that you have now has the full game installed.

I ended up buying Factions at the local store for reasons mentioned above. I was not able to bind the key that it came with to my account. PlayNC requires me to create another account (when using their site), and the in-game store rejected the key.

So I installed GW:Factions from the cd, when it started, it took me to the account/key management section of the client to add the key to my existing account. This time, it accepted the key.

So to make this short, I had to install from the Factions CD, to get the client recognize the key to add to my account. Weird, but hopefully ANet will fix this bug eventually.

.. I would of post sooner, but I didnt realize a bad configuration on the forums prevented me from doing so ... 12 characters required for a post, minimum? lol, ouch.

Anyways, yep, thats the first thing I did.
